When you book a trip to Paris in the springtime, you can wish and hope and plot and plan, but you can never be sure you'll be given the gift of blossoms opening at just the right time, or if you'll be blessed with the weather to enjoy them. On this particular adventure, clouds of pink waited in the Square Gabriel-Pierné on our first afternoon, and since those were the only kinds of clouds we saw that week, the pages of my sketchbook quickly filled with blossoms. This watercolor is a memory of that perfect, first sunny afternoon in a pretty Paris square that looks its best all dressed up in pink.

About This Piece

There is never enough time in Paris, so I bring my sketchbook and paints along to capture those fleeting moments. Whether sketching at a café table or in my hotel room, this is my way of sealing the memory in my mind's eye and keeping it with me. Spring days spent waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom, people-watching from a seat at my favorite café, a leisurely sun-soaked walk through the Tuileries - all little moments I've captured in my Paris sketchbook and then turned into original watercolors for you to bring home.
